At the American Society for Microbiology, Imagetwin has been an integral part of our routine ethics checks across all ASM journal titles since early 2023. Scientifically trained members of our Ethics and Integrity team use the platform to prescreen figures at the revision stage and to review revised figures to ensure duplication concerns are fully resolved. Duplication and plagiarism detection, particularly the reuse of images from prior publications, have been especially valuable. By combining AI-powered screening with expert in-house verification, we are able to identify and address concerns efficiently before publication, reinforce good data practices among authors, and safeguard the integrity of the scientific record.
