As a leading research institute, focused on pre-clinical cancer research, researchers at the CRUK Scotland Institute are aware of the global concern with the reproducibility of published pre-clinical cancer data and the integrity of the figures in cancer research papers. The CRUK Scotland Institute has established a research integrity framework that includes training on appropriate image processing and figure preparation, as well as a mandatory process for reviewing all research papers prior to submission to journals. As part of this we use Imagetwin to screen the figures in our papers. We find this really useful to identify accidental errors in images or duplication of representative images that might be breaches of copyright.
